Kalamazoo Urban Dancer {Kalamazoo Senior Photographer}

If you have known me for a long time, you know that there is a dancer inside of me.  I started dancing when I was 3, started competing around 8, and became a dance teacher at 15.  I taught thru highschool and college as well as the first couple of years that I worked at Pfizer.  I was also a founding member of Frelon Dance Company at Kalamazoo College.  We started off with 26 students and now it is the largest student organization on campus – they  just had their 16th annual performance.  (Don’t do the math –  I have been out of college for a LONG time.)  I really miss choreagraphing for the Frelon shows.

I have wanted to combine my love of dance with my love of photography for awhile.  This session (with a current Frelon member at K College) just made me so excited.  I LOVED every minute.  I wish I could do my own senior portraits over and incorporate my passion for dance…but that ship sailed a long time ago!  I don’t think dance senior portraits need to be traditional and shot in a studio…downtown Kalamazoo made a fabulous backdrop for these images…and if you come back tomorrow, you can see how nature can be a fantastic backdrop as well.

Thank you to Caitlin for an awesome session that really makes my heart sing.Beautiful urban dancer images in downtown Kalamazoo

  1. Becky~I remember you as a young dancer (even taught you some) and since I haven’t seen you since the early 90’s, that is how I remember you!! If you feel old, I really feel old!! I didn’t know you went on to choregraph and start up a company!! Awesome! I too miss dancing and still choregraph in my head!!

  2. So cool! Don’t you wish we had pictures like this from our dancing days?
